Two war ponies, ravaged by the wreckage of war, have reached the end of their run. Their speed and their courage, sacrificed for the folly of man, have betrayed them and now only push at their hearts and their spirits.

Like a bronc rider, a guitar man uses one hand to find a rhythm and the other to pull a melody out of the sky. They are both well versed at holding on for the duration of the ride and trying their best to make it to the end with a style that they can claim as their own.

A groomed saddle horse lives a life that suits the whims of his owner. He has traded his free will for a nice place to live, a full stomach, and a welcome escape from the hard work of survival.

A lone man, besieged by the hired guns of fear and greed, single handedly begins a western civil war against the push of unwarranted authority. With his Colt and his Winchester he makes one last run towards freedom as he makes a head long charge out of his blazing cabin.

Back in the endless days of boyhood, there lies a time of innocence and fair play, a time when a fella’s intentions were marked more by the color of his hat than the color of his skin. This was a time when the good guy would always win, would stand up against the forces of evil and, above all, would be the person you wanted to be when you grew up.

The blinders that were intended to protect him from the real and imaginary danger behind him now only protect him from his own common sense. The once familiar working clothes that he wore when he was employed to make his little meadow circles have now become the makings of a runaway.

Old man winter can roll in fast, sit heavy, and punch hard in mountain country. This is a time when the land, the horse, and the human need to put on their winter coats and look for some of the heat that they made during the summer.

There’s a line marking the ownership of property that is sometimes wide enough for a man to wander until a settlement with a neighbor can be worked out. When the line involves the ownership of a man’s cattle, the line can get thin enough for the settlement to be decided at the speed of a bullet.
